EDM/ECM Machining

This machine employs Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) and Electrochemical Machining (ECM) and is used for the precision machining of features onto the internal diameter of a component.

This machine eliminates the need for welding through the use of Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) and Electrochemical Machining (ECM).

EDM works by removing material of a desired shape using electrical discharges in the form of sparks. ECM is a similar process, however, in ECM, a current is passed through an electrolyte. Material is dissolved from the workpiece, as to take the shape of the tool.

The EDM/ECM machine can machine features onto the internal surface of components at essentially any depth within the tool, to an accuracy of hundredths of a millimetre.
